Maybe it was no surprise to anyone that Sora had gotten there five minutes earlier, but maybe that had something to do with the fact that the church wasn't too far away from where their house actually was. And Sora, he knew how to get there by heart, wasn't paying any attention to the chaos exploding around him. He had been focused on getting home, on finding Riku, and his gut had nearly dropped right from his stomach when he'd seen the trail of blood that led right up the steps, right over the floorboards, and right over to one silver-haired mass that he liked to call his best friend.

For a second or two, Sora had forgotten how to breathe.

He'd skidded to a stop and dropped to his knees not even feet from Riku, and gloveless fingers had paused in mid-air before they dropped down until his hands were wrapping around his upper arms. He hadn't wanted to shake him, hadn't wanted to do anything that would have ended up hurting him more, but he --

But he didn't look right, didn't look like Riku, and part of Sora wanted to shake him and ( ... )

As far as he knew, there was only one reason why he'd agreed to this and that was Roxas having left him no choice. Sure, he could've let the blonde run off into the pits of danger alone, but he'd never forgive himself if something happened, and who was he kidding anyway? After what they'd just gone through, it was safe to say that Axel didn't want him out of his sight right now anyway. To hell with that. Though he had to admit, something was just really ... off. One could almost say he had a bad feeling, but apparently this wasn't the time to start cracking jokes.

He didn't quite get the sudden alarm that attacked his generically stoic friend- rather he did get it, and Axel was just displeased with the implications. Roxas shouldn't have been so worked up. And he followed him without question, but his purpose was absent where plenty of questions were. Was he really becoming more and more like Sora ? Why had he even bothered to call him out? Unless he was closer than even Xemnas had suspected. Either way, the whole situation just ( ... )
