In all honesty, Yazoo wasn't sure why he agreed to meet with her at all. He disliked people, disliked humans, and she was no exception. Loud-mouthed girls that pushed and pushed and pushed were his least favorite.

But he'd agreed, and he'd shown up rather than going with his initial plan on standing her up and letting her stay at the damned clock tower for however long she wanted to wait before realizing he wasn't coming. He'd agreed because he was tired of arguing. He'd shown up because he... was tired of being alone, perhaps. Left to his own devices while Kadaj was off with Lucrecia doing who knew what.

It didn't help that he had to see her at work on occasion, no matter how brief their passings were they always served to set him on edge. A quick glance in a hallway or a glare from him when she entered the room he was in. Thus far, Yazoo felt he was handling his temper very well; he'd not killed nor threatened her, not spoken to her much at all ( ... )

Luckily for him, she was feeling somewhat merciful when it came to her usual greetings. He didn’t exactly look like the type that could handle any of her neck hugs, not to mention it didn’t feel appropriate-at least for just today. This called for a different approach, like when encountering a sleeping dragon, one must stay wary of where they step. But knowing herself, somewhere she was bound to make a mistake or forget the rules, it just wasn’t in her to not realize where her limitations were ( ... )

Oh. Of course. Nothing good (like her silence) could ever last in this damned place, could it? The split second that Rinoa turned to face him, Yazoo's mouth drew up into a rather irritated little line, eyes rolling slowly as he looked away. It served him right, did it not? Having agreed to come out there with the girl in the first place.

Did she really insist, too, on bringing up the one topic he did not wish to discuss? The one thing he'd come all that way to try and forget about, if only for a few hours. Of course, such a task was impossible; Yazoo's mind was still running a mile a minute with ideas and thoughts and idle frustrations and.... well, tsk. So much for all of that.

His eyes eventually went back to Rinoa, studying her face with a scowl.

"Oh, of course. Let me rush home to do just that and see how quickly such a thing has me skewered on the end of a double-bladed sword." Or with his face punched in, or neck snapped, or a plethora of other horrid things that could come as a result of displeasing his brother and ( ... )

Perhaps her statement came a little too early. Patience was never one of her strong points, but she wasn’t sure how long she could go on without saying something. His scowl was intimidating, if only slightly. It wasn’t enough to stop her from her intent to talk, and so far it proved to be a success. He was talking, that was enough for her, even if he didn’t seem at all interested on the topic ( ... )
