The clock tower had been a good idea, Bella had decided to herself as she closed the door quickly behind herself and slid down the cold wall. At least the place appeared to be deserted. Well, as of right now she didn’t see anything jumping out at her from any of the shadows, anyway. She had climbed a good amount of stairs to get to the top, but in the end, it was worth it. At least she could see out amongst the city. And there also appeared to be what appeared to be a bed or two. Had people really been living there before she had arrived

And of course, in the same exact second that he heard Bella speak, he was behind her, securing his arms around her waist. "Found you," he murmured, and as soon as he was sure she wasn't about to jerk away out of surprise, he planted a kiss on the top of her head. (As much as he didn't want Bella in Purgatorium, the more selfish part of him took comfort in her presence and indulged in it. Besides, she smelled better than anything else in the whole place, which was a plus.)

A slight gasp escaped Bella’s lips when she felt something cold and hard press up against her back, but when she realized it was Edward, she relaxed and leaned back against him, her eyes shutting as she reveled in the feel of his lips against her hair. “Of course you did.”

Turning around in his grasp, the teenager slowly hooked her arms around the vampire’s neck and leaned up to press a soft kiss to his lips, pulling away soon afterwards. “So, where is this place, anyway? I mean … well,” she was stumbling. Bella frowned, her eyes darting quickly around the room for a moment before finally once again resting on Edward’s pale face. “Why are we even here?”

Edward frowned, slightly, taking a few moments to decide how to phrase things; he'd figured out more about their situation from intruding on the thoughts of others. "From what I've gathered, this is Purgatorium, where some sort of gods want us to repent."

He paused, then, the frown etching itself further into his pale features. He considered Bella for a few moments, running a hand through her hair. "Though now that you're here, I feel less inclined to believe that," he continued after a few moments. Clearly, if it had been just him, Edward might have found the whole place more... convincing. Believable, even.
