Who: Rikku (
calamitousness) and anyone around-abouts ShinRa.
When: Sunday afternoon-ish.
Where: In the ShinRa kitchen.
Warnings: Musings of an Al Bhed. ‘Nuff said.
Summary: Boredom is a good incentive to daydream, among other things.

A low groan escaped Rikku’s throat as she slumped against the kitchen wall, her eyes closed and back pressed to the cool surface. It had to be beautiful and snowy outside, yet here she was, inside, baking cookies for whomever wanted them. Well, attempting to, anyway. One would think that living at Home for most of her life would mean that she was used to such outrageous idleness, but, unfortunately, that wasn't always true. Spherebreak was still her favorite invention, next to chocobo saddles and sliced bread. But really, had sliced bread been invented?  Or had it just been something that had appeared one day out of the blue? 'I Think I just broke my brain,' she thought wryly.

The thief mumbled a few words to herself, suddenly deciding that this was not the time to bake something that probably wouldn’t be eaten for a few days anyway. Besides, she had plenty of time to spare. Waiting to cook the dang pastries could actually take longer, but whatever. Usually she’d stick it out and actually go through with her plans, but she just didn’t have enough motivation to move. And if she eventually did, it would be to go outside, where she should be right now. But no, the Al Bhed girl had wanted to be productive and maybe earn a few respect points. It just went to show where dedication got you.

She cracked her eyes open, her arms and legs sprawled lazily around her. She let herself fall to the side, rolling flat on her back and staring up at the ceiling. Little dots peppered the tiles, and she lazily started counting them. What she wouldn’t give for some ice cream, or maybe some lemonade. Ah, lemonade... 'Twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven...'  Her eyes slid shut as she was caught up in a wonderful daydream of herself and Gippal sitting at the beach, each holding a huge glass of the sweet drink. 'Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty...'  A wistful sigh escaped her and she crossed her legs, tapping the wall with her bare foot. What she wouldn’t give for that boy to show up right now. At least he’d keep her entertained. 'Thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three...'
