Sweet Marley Finds a Home

Feb 06, 2010 20:44

Or maybe it should be said that a wonderful home found Marley.  My awesome LJ friend, therealocelot , informed me that her hubby was looking to add a second dog to the family.  We brought Marley to their house today, and it was very obvious to me that I couldn't ask for a better family to take my sweet girl.  Marley will have a wonderful yard to play in, a ( Read more... )

She's doing good. I haven't noticed any serious fighting since that initial dominance struggle. When they walked earlier, Marley behaved better than Tori. She's fine with the cats, though they're not quite so sure about her yet.

She may have to get a good bath tomorrow. Our housemate, who you didn't meet, is badly allergic to rabbits, which I'd forgotten about until she started itching and wheezing after meeting Marley. We're hoping that it's the bunnies (and it probably is), or that it clears up with the raw diet, since she usually doesn't have problems with dogs.

Tori is very happy to have another dog around!

Marley is currently zonked out on the kitchen floor, which I find a little funny, because it's not somewhere I'm used to seeing a dog sleeping!

I'm pretty happy I get to keep up with her, too!

Although everything I saw demonstrated that Marley was in the perfect place for her, it's awesome to know that a dog person I trust and who knows the family also gives the thumbs up! They seem like a very cool family, and Marley's new dad clearly knows what he's doing. Meeting Tori was also great. When you see a boisterous, happy, well-adjusted, and extraordinarily healthy dog who is both very confident and very sweet, and who is well trained, you know the dog has a good home, and I am so grateful that Marley gets to have that kind of a home now, too. Seriously, they are providing for her everything I wish I could have provided.

Thank you!! I've fostered several dogs recently, but we had Marley the longest, and after fighting off the shepherd and mastiff together, I really bonded with her more than any other foster. In fact, she's the only one that was allowed to sleep on my bed. So, she is especially hard to let go, but it is also nice to have one less dog to take potty and take for walks, and I really could not have asked for a better forever home for her.
