Or maybe it should be said that a wonderful home found Marley. My awesome LJ friend,
therealocelot , informed me that her hubby was looking to add a second dog to the family. We brought Marley to their house today, and it was very obvious to me that I couldn't ask for a better family to take my sweet girl. Marley will have a wonderful yard to play in, a better diet than I could possibly provide (RAW! I'm on Cloud 9 over this.), lots of run and play time at the dog park, and all the training she deserves. Also, she has kids to love and a wonderful doggy sister to romp with. There's going to be a little sibling rivalry at first as the two canine girls decide who gets to be top dog, and I'm afraid Miss Marley just might have to give up her crown to the first lady of the house as the new sister is a tough-as-nails (and SUPER friendly) rottie mix. Marley isn't used to competition. The girls had a few words, but Tori, the rottie, was constantly demonstrating that she only wanted to be bestest buddies in spite of her natural dominance, so I think they'll work it out.
therealocelot 's husband is also obviously very dog savvy, and it was wonderful to know that I was leaving my precious girl in excellent hands.
Driving home was far from easy; I've grown so attached to that little girl, but it certainly helped to see that Marley was happy as a clam when I left her. This was in stark contrast to any dog I've regretfully turned over to a shelter.
I'm now enjoying a house with only two dogs (and one cat and four angora rabbits). Sadly, Anubis is definitely not pleased that his BFF hasn't come home. He keeps searching the house and calling for her. He's even suckered me into taking him outside to potty in order that he might look for her. He's going to need extra snuggles tonight, I think.
