Short-subject lyrics quiz

Oct 03, 2006 09:34

   Here is the promised lyrics quiz. It is both a lyrics quiz and a puzzle; there is a theme and a specific answer suggested by that theme. This one is audience participation; you get to post your own snippet for others to guess once you think you know the answer! Wow, what fun! It's pretty short (they can't all be 90 entries long).

But I don't wanna be Bill Frist... %-}

Seriously, I've learned that quick-on-the-draw counts in your quizzes, when other people have posted while I was looking it over one more time. %-}

P.S.: OMFG, how could I not have gotten 1, or 8? ::rending of garments::

Sorry, but it is now an ancient and long-standing tradition that the first (correct) poster is FRIST. If it makes you feel better, he probably has some relatives who aren't complete fucktards. You could be one of them, instead.

1. "American Pie" by I hope Don McLean, because the Madonna version is evil.

Yes. Of course. purchasemonkey October 3 2006, 17:06:49 UTC
I have specifically differentiated between the two versions (one good, one evil) in a previous quiz. You are correct.

1. American Pie, Don McLean.
5. One Tin Soldier, ummm. Joni Mitchell? She usually is the singer for folksongs I can't stand (viz. "Where Have all the Flowers Gone?")

kid_lit_fan just barely beat you on #1; since you essentially entered your answers at the same time, you both get credit. robyngoodfelloe notes the correct arist for #5.

If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting.

UNLESS it's "God God, ya'll! What is it good for?"

Or possibly "You're the emblem of the land I love."

OK, gonna wait for more guesses to come in.

I don't think so purchasemonkey October 3 2006, 16:58:15 UTC
I believe I'm able to name each of the three songs you cite, and, to the best of my knowledge, none of them fits.
