La Push was a totally fine town, don't get Caroline wrong, but God had she loved getting to spend a day in Seattle doing all the touristy things she could think of and picking up a few more souvenirs (for herself this time). Jake waited for a moment once he'd turned off the engine, looking with amusement to how fast asleep Caroline seemed to be. It wasn't the drive he'd expected, but then she apparently had needed it.

Finally, he pulled his key from the ignition, stuffing it in his pocket before he reached across the gearbox to caress her cheek and see if that would wake her up.

The difference in her sleep was amazing. For that past few days she had suffered through a barrage of weird near-waking dreams with attacking wolves and displeased friends and family mixed in with old memories of a very different sort of wolf attack. But when he touched her cheek, she stirred from a pleasant dream she hardly remembered as her eyes opened and she saw him staring at her.

And then she noticed the car wasn't moving. "Oh God," she groaned, starting to sit up more. "I slept all the way?" And that would be the start of the whining, yes.

"Yup," Jake smirked and he brushed her hair while he moved his hand to the back of her neck, massaging stiff muscles. "You get to put up the tent as penance."

Her nose crinkled at the suggestion and she internally cursed the layout of the front seat. Why couldn't he have a truck so she could scoot right over and be more suggestive?

"I'd rather do something else as penance."
