So, I looked at hotel prices today, the time I want is finally available at the place I wanna stay. So I'll probably make reservations really soon. The long-term stay places have some really good rates. Most of the people I know in Japan live in Tokyo, or further south or west of it. All the same, there's lots of hurting in Japan right now and even if *I* don't directly know anyone seriously affected by the events of the last week or two, I'm sure some of my friends know someone who is. This morning I had this great philosophical musing about capitalism and Intellectual Property, but the last few hours continuously hearing about weather in Dallas (mainly) and Houston (a little bit) just has me shaking my head sadly.

First, while driving near the UT campus I drove two blocks down 23rd. The street LITERALLY was 2 way for 1 block, one way for the second block. This weekend saw what was quite possibly the best anime con I've ever attended, definitely the best in years. We missed bigbigtruck and a few others, but aside from smaller crowd than hoped, I can't think of any negatives from the weekend.
