Inky was 19 years old and slowly going down hill for the past year. His health began to rapidly deteriate after his sense of smell started going and he refused to eat most everything I offered him. I opened new cans several times a day and even gave him fresh sushi. When he stopped eating three days ago we knew the end was near. He still got up for drinks of water, wandering through the house to each water dish and then headed right to his box to pee. When he finally stopped drinking he could barely walk across the floor and we knew it was time to let him go. He had a good life, he was a real fighter, and his little heart was strong to the end. He will be sadly missed, but we will remember him with fondness and joy.
He was such a sweet kitty, always a sun seeker. He had a really strong personality and a very loud voice for a little cat. The smallest in the house, he was in total control up to the very end. Thanks for your kind words.
I'm so sorry - I had 2 cats die at 19 years old a few years back. It's an age where you know they had a full life, and I'm sure if Inky spent his life with you that it was a great life filled with love.
Thanks, he was ours from about the age of 6 months. We rescued him from a neighbors basement, but had no idea how he got there. He lived in 3 different houses that he shared with several other fur buddies and people who loved and cared for him. His was a good life.
