[The view of route 31 is nice enough. The sun is peeking between the clouds and shining upon the snow, which looks pure and untouched... Except for a small section where a Dratini is attacking every wild Pokémon he sees while a Feebas cheers him on. Luckily, their trainer is feeling too nostalgic to scold them ( Read more... )

actually happy, weather is gonna turn ugly, backtracking for castmate, finally in violet

I've yet to catch one myself, I confess. I need to, but-- I just haven't run into any that my team seems to agree on, yet, and I don't want to add someone they don't get along with.

I first caught a Pokémon because he did not get along well with Rosie, actually. The two of them were glaring at each other and starting up a staring competition, so I decided to let them argue as often as they wanted. [He laughs softly.] It took me... three weeks, I believe?

I'll have to catch my own soon-- but I've been here two months, now... It's more than time. I'm going to get a water Pokemon of some sort, which I'm sure will displease Karen to no end.

You are in luck; most of the routes and ponds have Water-types. The Magikarps are the most common, their attacks are limited until they evolve.

I haven't caught many, one of the pokemon in my team was caught in the wild but.. Well, I was't the one doing the catching. Just seems to me like the ones I've seen in the Cherrygrove area aren't to my liking. Gotta catch the strong ones, eh?

You weren't the one who caught it? Was it a trade?

The first few routes have little variety. Are you looking for a type in particular?

It was... Left behind. His owner went back.

Something that can breathe fire or something would be nice, this weather is terrible and I haven't been able to cook anything since I got here.

...I see. I also received two Pokémon that way.

The closest wild Fire-types can be found between Goldenrod and Ecruteak. Obtaining an egg might be easier.

Good luck Mr. Harvey! Stay close to Flare. I'm sure you'll need him in this weather.

It's been similar for me as well. I haven't caught a Pokémon for myself in quite a long time. But I don't mind so much. All the Pokémon I've received or hatched are lovely. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Thank you! I'll keep him by my side the whole time.

I would never part with any member of my team. [Unless Firion comes back and wants his kids.] But I do admit that catching a Pokémon by yourself feels rather satisfying.

[Iris smiles.] Ronald is quite jealous of Flare's evolution. Now he's been wanting to train more than ever!

I agree. They're all wonderful. ...Yes. And it's been so long, I'm afraid I wouldn't be very good at it.

I have no doubt he'll be a graceful, powerful Arcanine someday. They could even race together on the streets.

It takes some practice. My first capture was rather embarrassing, but I had little trouble with everyone's Christmas presents.

I never actually...caught a pokemon. [Chuckle] Most of mine came from eggs, too.

I only caught two: Avenger and Esuna. Both of them in September. That's... my starter, two caught, three eggs, one gift and two received from someone who left. I doubt there are many more ways to obtain a Pokémon.

Four of my party came from eggs. Then there was my starter...I guess Archimedes is the closest to a capture. [Sheepish grin] He sort of decided to follow me, so I'm not sure if that really counts, though.

That should count as a capture. You still had to put him in a pokéball, did you not?

I had help... catching Kureno and Suzu, but I caught... Kagura and Hiro on my own, and... Hoshi and Ayame were trades, and Piko was a gift...

Is that so? That means you caught more Pokémon than I did, then. I only captured Avenger and Esuna, and out of those I never quite fought Avenger.

But they're still... important, right?

Of course. All of my Pokémon are like my children. I'd never treat one differently because of the manner in which it joined my team.
