“Rand Paul says the president calls him every now and then. I wanted to make sure that when [Trump] calls him that [Paul] knew enough about the Julian Assange offer that I found something of value for the president to look at,” Rohrabacher told TheDC.
He added that Paul was “very open to the idea of mentioning it to the president next time the president called him.”
Sen. Paul’s office declined to comment. Rohrabacher said that Paul was joined by a few of his staffers, and that the California congressman brought along top aide Paul Behrends and conservative journalist Charles C. Johnson.

The Pelican Hill Country Club event is part of a swing through California to raise money for California Victory 2018, a joint fundraising committee formed to support seven of the state’s Republican Congress members who’ve been targeted by Democrats.
Four of those members represent Orange County: Ed Royce, R-Fullerton; Mimi Walters, R-Laguna Beach; Dana Rohrabacher, R-Costa Mesa; and Darrell Issa, R-Vista.
The others on the list are Steve Knight, R-Palmdale; Jeff Denham, R-Turlock; and David Valadao, R-Hanford. Tickets for the fundraiser start at $2,700.

Congressman Rohrabacher is a part of a culture in which politicians look out for each other first and no one is held accountable. He has left our community behind to become a career politician. Instead of representing the best of Orange County, he has embarrassed us on the national stage, ignored scientific facts, short-changed our schools, and put our environment and our national security at risk.
He’s more interested in catering to Washington insiders, defending Putin and Russia, or doing President Trump’s bidding on dangerous policies that make things tougher for families here and weaken our future.
I’ve dedicated my life to using medical science to save and improve lives - but in Congress, medicine and science have been pushed to the side in favor of partisan political games. Politicians like Dana Rohrabacher have used the broken system for their own gain for far too long. We’re not his priority and we need someone new.
