Donald Trump has spent a lot of time in the last year trying to make news, first with his birther obsession, and more recently demanding comedian Bill Maher pay him $5 million. (Maher offered the sum for proof Trump wasn’t the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.” Trump released his own birth certificate and threatened to sue Maher for the money.)
Now Trump is exploring ways to make news in a more literal way: by acquiring the New York Times. According to sources familiar with the situation, Trump has engaged in more than one meeting to discuss how he might buy the Grey Lady. Details of Trump’s strategy remain scant. And it seems unlikely, to say the least, that the Sulzberger family, which controls the company’s voting shares, would welcome his offer.

Во время пленарной сессии было проведено голосование всех присутствующих в зале о главной задаче власти на следующие несколько лет.Почти 80% назвали улучшение качества государственной власти (а именно борьба с коррупцией и институциональные реформы). Медведев, однако, сказал, что голосовал за другой вариант; позже он уточнил, что голосовал за улучшение конкурентной среды. Mr. Nahmad did not return a phone call to his Trump Tower apartment, but the purchases scream floor-through.

The indictment portrayed Mr. Nahmad, who is known as Helly, as a financier, money launderer and bookmaker. If he had gone to trial and been convicted on all counts, he would have faced a maximum of 92 years in prison, although his sentence under federal sentencing guidelines would probably have been shorter.
But in exchange for admitting to the single gambling charge, the recommended sentence under the guidelines will be significantly shorter: 12 to 18 months. Under the agreement, his lawyers can ask Judge Furman to impose a sentence that includes no jail time and the dismissal of the other charges in the indictment. The painting that Mr. Nahmad agreed to forfeit as part of the plea agreement was “Carnaval à Nice, 1937” by Raoul Dufy.
Mr. Nahmad was the 14th of the 34 defendants charged in the case to plead guilty. The others who pleaded guilty agreed to forfeit a total of $9 million, officials said.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with the Internal Revenue Service and the New York Police Department. Mr. Nahmad’s lawyers, Benjamin Brafman and Paul L. Shechtman, said in a statement that they were pleased the government had agreed to dismiss the racketeering and fraud charges.
“Today, Hillel has accepted responsibility for his participation in illegal gambling,” the statement said. “We are hopeful that at sentencing, the court will not impose any period of incarceration, recognizing Hillel’s unblemished background and his many redeeming qualities.”
Preet Bharara, the United States attorney in Manhattan, whose office prosecuted the case, said: “Hillel Nahmad headed an illegal sports gambling business with ties to a Russian-American organized crime ring. Nahmad bet that he would never get caught and he lost.”
In the plea agreement, Mr. Nahmad acknowledged being an organizer and leader of the ring; he was the primary source of financing for the gambling business and entitled to a share of its profits. In court, Joshua A. Naftalis, one of the assistant United States attorneys prosecuting the case, told the judge that Mr. Nahmad provided the gambling business millions of dollars transferred from his father’s Swiss bank account.

Рубинштейн прав. Понадобится всего один год, чтобы из зерна ненависти к геям вырастить ненависть к "Гейропе", а затем и стремящейся в Европу Украине. То, что выглядело троллингом, плавно перетекает в международную агрессию и военные преступления.

A bipartisan group of eight senators has reached an agreement for legislation that could be the beginning of the comprehensive immigration reform we have all been waiting for. The proposal was announced on Monday and commended by President Obama in an address in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The Senators proposing the legislation include Democrats Charles Schumer of New York, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Robert Menendez of New Jersey, and Michael Bennet of Colorado, and Republicans John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Marco Rubio of Florida, and Jeff Flake of Arizona.
The policies envisioned by the Senators will be sweeping, and include the following provisions:
- A path to citizenship for the undocumented immigrants already in the United States;
- Expansion of the lawful immigration system so as to provide more green cards for immigrants who obtain advanced degrees in science, math, technology, or engineering from American universities;
- An increase in the visas available for low-skilled workers;
- The establishment of an agricultural worker program; and
- Laws allowing for increased hiring of immigrants by employers who demonstrate they cannot recruit U.S. workers.

On Jan. 29, 2013, the same day Mr. Obama highlighted immigration in Las Vegas, Mr. Limbaugh had Mr. Rubio on as a guest to talk about immigration and called him “admirable and noteworthy” during a warm conversation about the bipartisan immigration plan.

It’s not an issue. The whole Republican Party’s got this fetish on free trade-they’re like automatons, “Oh, free trade, free trade, free trade”-which is a radical idea, particularly when you’re against a mercantilist opponent like China. So we’re going to make trade from number 100 to number two, and we’re going to take immigration number three to number one.
The one and two issues will be immigration and trade.”
