Paul spoke with Trump multiple times ahead of the senator's travel to Moscow, both in person and in the Oval Office, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.
Paul, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had planned this Russia trip before the Trump-Putin summit in Helsinki, Finland last month, the source said. After the summit, Paul and Trump discussed the senator's planned meetings with Russian officials and the messages the president wanted Paul to convey to them.
Paul received the letter before leaving Washington and then hand-delivered it to the Russian government, the source said.

2. Во время работы в Украине Манафорт и Гейтс получали деньги не только за избрание Януковича, но и за помощь ему в правлении. Это подтверждает рассказы о том, как в правительстве Януковича у них был свой человек в каждом министерстве: “You have to understand, we’ve been working in Ukraine a long time, and Paul has a whole separate shadow government structure … In every ministry, he has a guy.”

The accusations against Mr. Manafort and Mr. Gates mostly stem from their work helping to elect Viktor F. Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine, and other pro-Russia forces in Ukraine, and to secure business ventures with the oligarchs backing those politicians.
But on Tuesday, Mr. Gates testified that Mr. Manafort also was paid $4 million a year to help Mr. Yanukovych govern after he was elected president in 2010.

Rick Gates testified in federal court Tuesday that his longtime business partner Paul Manafort suggested appointing one of his bankers to a role in then-President Elect Donald Trump's administration.
Chicago's Federal Savings Bank had extended Manafort $16 million in home loans from December 2016 to early 2017, NBC News reported in February. The bank's founder and CEO, Stephen Calk, was one of Trump's economic advisors during the 2016 campaign and sought to become the Secretary of the Army under the new administration, according to Gates' testimony and prior news reports.
"We need to discuss Steve Calk for Sec of the Army," Manafort wrote Gates in a November 2016 email. Manafort had resigned as Trump's campaign chairman in August 2016, but Gates, who was also a top campaign official, continued working on Trump's post-election transition team.

COLLINS: It is on occupational hazard. But I'm a little tongue in cheek sure that there was nothing that would have been harmful with Republican e-mails.

Three weeks after angry constituents paid for an electronic billboard at that spot to criticize the Clarence Republican for not holding town hall meetings, local GOP operative Michael Caputo has spearheaded a campaign to fund a counterpoint billboard.
"Thank You Chris Collins! - Your REAL constituents," says the electronic billboard message, which went up Monday morning.
The earlier billboard, funded by Collins critics, said: "Where's Chris Collins? WNY would like a word ... Host a town hall meeting, Mr. Collins."
That spurred Caputo into action.
