The family (well, 2/3 of it) left this morning at around 8:30. The movers are coming tomorrow. My mom and I have spent the last four days packing, almost all day everyday (except for a brief detour to show her my apartment, at which point we got stuck in three hours of traffic). I haven't seen you since before your decision to leave the program was made public, but I wish you good luck and happiness. When I read the schedule you had this quarter, it was clear that such a load would have burned anyone out, no matter how dedicated.

It is encouraging to know that your parents are behind you on this decision, and from the way you write about LA it certainly seems like you will enjoy your new environment. I'm surprised by the number of people I know who have dropped everything to move to LA; it has always been difficult for them at first, a box filled with spring-loaded snakes. But perseverence -- and, I'll note with some optimism, the company of someone you love -- seems to bring a hypnotic peace to the poisonous viper.

Anyhow, a long note saying a very simple thing. Be well, and I will keep reading.
