Tonight I start my research project on The Christian Faith and it's Relevance to War and Peace. Actually the research started a couple days ago, but I've seem to have misplaced my notes. So I start over. I am going to base my research and conclusions, (if a conclusion is even possible on a topic such as this) on primarily the New Testament. I will ( Read more... )

interesting. im generally offended by the "disharmony" of the new and old testaments. i dont think very much changed at all. the old testament instructs us to give our enemies livestock back if it falls into a pit if im remembering it correctly (i might be wrong). why? i think "love your enemies" was a true spirit in the old testament as well. and also, were given 2 reasons why we should be perfect that pertain directly to God in matt 5. one is that he has given common grace (sun rising and rain falling) to both his friends and enemies. second is that loving ones enemy is part of how we become "be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect". both God's perfection and his common grace have never changed in any period of time. anyway, ill be interested in your paper.

The harmony is in that God has always been a God of love...and a God of holiness. He commanded the Israelites to care for the stranger in their midst. This is because He is a God of love. But He also commanded them to kill the enemies of God. This is because He is a holy God. For that matter- He also punished the Israelites dozens of times for their sin ( ... )

Tim, I'm having a hard time figuring you out. Are you pacifist, anti-war or just anti-Bush? What is the hypothesis you are going for?
