I'm switching to Ubuntu.
Not from OS X, but from XP. It's actually a miracle that I have managed to use it already a month and not lose my nerves more than I
have for it... at least it's ok at work to use ANY operating system you like, on your corporate Dell. As long as you can still do your work.
That means that I will use Outlook (oh why can't Evolution deal with the notifications and meetings properly with Exchange server?) and something that is poorly coded to only work in IE in a vm. But Outlook and IE are the only corporate nuisances that require Windows. So after cleaning up the hard drive from unneeded ISOs etc, first run
Converter, and after that is done time to install
Ubuntu. If only FreeBSD was capable of running
Workstation I would have gone with that - but Ubuntu is good enough. I don't want to be using a special operating system all the time - special as in crippled and retarded. It's enough that the special OS, Windows that is, runs as a VM.
It takes quite a while to convert a physical machine to a VM. I should have done that last Friday when I got the PC a month ago.
