I just don't get it (Punisher: War Zone Comments and Blogs)

I don't understand most of these people on the net who claim to be Punisher fans and they say they were not happy with Punisher: War Zone. "Oh this was wrong, this was wrong, blah blah blah, the directing sucked, the cast was no good" and all I wanna say to alot of them is: "Then you aren't really a Punisher fan. If you've read the MAX series, then ( Read more... )

LOL @ the guy complaining about Loony Bin Jim.

But I'll be honest with you, I think there's a difference between the average comicbook hero fan and fans of Big Pun MAX, even during Ennis' tenure. You also have to admit that the movie was pretty campy and so, all these people complaining are average comicbook hero fans who just couldn't get it.

I myself still think it's more of a fun B-movie than a superhero movie. People who complain just couldn't stand that like they've done recently with Crank 2. And hey, it's one of Marvel's premiere anti-heroes, it's meant to be this ultra violent and crazy.

Speaking as someone who's been a Punisher fan since he was a kid and whose favorite comic of all time is Ennis' Punisher MAX, I didn't really care for the movie.

It was an alright, over the top B-movie and I enjoyed the violence, but that was about it. I thought a lot of the plot bits were a bit ridiculous and unnecessarily fantastic.

Hitting the dude with the rocket launcher? Ok, it's funny and that's fine, but I was hoping for something a little darker and more serious. I don't like him having these special gadgets that allow him to do things he wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I like the soldier with a gun.

Having said that, Stevenson was fine and I wouldn't be opposed to a sequel.

Ennis scripts for MAX series are far better than this piece of shit. It follows Max series only with visuals. The movie has now heart but pretends it has. Anyway cast was OK and Ray is the best movie-Punisher ever.

Mmkay, I've been waiting for someone to bring this up, and I'm glad you're of the same opinion I am. As far as Movie-Punishers go, this was by far, the most accurate to the comics. I think Ray Stevenson was the best Castle they could find, Wayne Knight was a good Micro, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't change the fact that, as far as Movies go, this one was really, really bad. That doesn't mean I didn't like it, it just means that by movie standards, this one was doomed from opening night ( ... )
