A curmudgeon's guide to Paris

Do you have few feelings for the French?  Do you feel like you have an overabundance of money?  Do you enjoy long lines?  Do you think all tourist destinations should only have one entrance?  Then Paris is the city for you.  If you actually want to see the beauty of France, I imagine Marseilles, Avignon, Cannes or Nice would do quite nicely, and ( Read more... )

Thank you for this post; it was fascinating!Only frequent patisseries if buttery pastries are your thing.
If I ever visit Paris for a couple weeks, I will sit down in a patisserie at the beginning of my visit, and fourteen days later they'll only be able to get me out because the big picture-windows in the front open.

(BTW, I remembered the Sartre quote as "L'enfer, c'est autrui," but Google and Wikipedia suggest it's "L'Enfer c'est les Autres".)

Mmmm, the buttery pastries are good. However, I imagine they are similar in other parts of France . . .
