memento mori, Chapter One (X/Yami no Matsuei, Subaru, Tsuzuki, Hisoka)

Aug 19, 2008 22:17

So here it is.

After consulting with a few people, and after tearing my hair out over this thing for god knows how long, I've decided to make it chaptered and thus hopefully easier for readers to digest. It's going to be a monster, but I'm going to be damn proud of it. I already am ( Read more... )

HOMG. A stupendous YnM fic. And crossovered with one of my fave X characters.

*weeps with joy*

I love the details, the imagery, the reactions, especially Hisoka's, poor kid, but I loved him trying his damn best to stay strong for his partner.

And Subaru doing the twin mirror thing? Oh God, that was just...shitImgoingtocry moment for me.

*more blushing*

And that right there is why I love Hisoka so much, I think. He refuses to remain a victim. It's wonderful. *smoosh*

(In my head, Subaru does that every morning, even though he doesn't really see Hokuto anymore when he looks at himself.)

Oh yes, Hisoka just absolutely doesn't give up and stay a victim. He's no weepy, whimpering uke like some fanbrats portray him.

I find it very easy to imagine Subaru doing that. I found that scene very touching, because some people forget how truly close he and Hokuto were (and how alike they were, at least on the outside). I think Subaru is very much aware of the fact that he would have been dead had she not exchanged her life for his. He is, in a way, living a life that had been given to him by his twin sister. The mirror scene just tears me because if Subaru had died, I think Hokuto would be doing the same thing.

Haha. Sorry for the tl;dr rambling reply.

tl;dr rambling replies are totally cool in my book.

I don't get how people think Hisoka's a weepy whimpering uke, I really don't. Partially because in my head, Hisoka tops. Hisoka's so much stronger than fanbrats give him credit for. Honestly, I think anyone who characterizes him as weak is going off his character design and not the canon. Ahem. Rant over. Really.

Yeah, Hokuto would have, and Hokuto's shaped Subaru's life, you can't deny that. (And I don't see why you'd want to, really, because Hokuto is awesome.)

Hey! Looking forward to more! :D The concept of these characters meeting (Hisoka and Subaru) is very intriguing.

O.M.G.

I haven't even read this yet (probably won't until after nanowrimo) but I just wanted to say that you've written a story based on two of my favorite fandoms. And not just any standard fare favorites but the two- aside from Loveless and FMA- that strike such a chord with me, esp. X. (My love for Subaru is just so infinite- like, I'm-getting-a-pentagram-tattoo-very-soon infinite *sigh*)

I just don't have the words. I look SO forward to reading this. I'm sure I'm going to love it.

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence! I hope it doesn't disappoint. *smiles* Good luck on your NaNo!

(I love Subaru, too. And because I love him, I hurt him. what he likes it)

Makes sense. As I said in a post a couple weeks back: he suffers beautifully. ^_^
