memento mori, Chapter One (X/Yami no Matsuei, Subaru, Tsuzuki, Hisoka)

Aug 19, 2008 22:17

So here it is.

After consulting with a few people, and after tearing my hair out over this thing for god knows how long, I've decided to make it chaptered and thus hopefully easier for readers to digest. It's going to be a monster, but I'm going to be damn proud of it. I already am ( Read more... )

IT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORKS.

So much. So much. I love how jarring it is to shift from Subaru to Hisoka, from one canon to the other--I love the details so damned much, one kind of bureaucracy and another, one modus and another--it's all so solid and disparate and it pits the canons against each other and the reconciliation is going to MAKE THIS.

Love. Such ridiculous love.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ -- oh hell, not enough hearts in the world to convey it properly.

I am so fucking glad this monstrosity works. And I am having so much fun playing up the differences -- I got the idea originally when mullenkamp mentioned the similarities, but for all the stylistic and thematic elements they have in common they're very different, and they clash, and oh the friction it is potent. Am having such fun seeing them run into each other. Especially Subaru and Hisoka. Oh god, Subaru and Hisoka.

:D

This chapter is leaving me wanting, which is a good thing. You have Subaru's emotional deadness, Tsuzuki's concern and attempts to brighten things up, and Hisoka's empathy down to a tee, and just the hint of interaction that we get at the end of this chapter makes me quite eager to see more.

Can't wait to see where this goes. :)

Writing their interaction is seriously the best part about this -- I have a good bit written of later parts in which they get around to having actual conversations, and the things that happen. *grin* Also fun to write? Hisoka's empathy, because he knows what other people feel but doesn't always understand it and it is awesome.

I am having fun with this. And it is going places. Ohyes. Eeee.

AMAZING.

I seriously can't wait to read more. I love the way you've written it. I was curious to see how you were going to make the two series work together and I have to say I think you've done a brilliant job.

Thanks so much! I think X and YnM fit together well -- at the very least, it's conceivable that the two canons could inhabit the same universe. Of course, they don't fit together perfectly, and that's where the fun comes in.

This is brillant and the fact it involves my two favorite series makes me so happy :)

Thank you! Both of these were early loves of mine, and for various reasons I've been getting back into both of them lately, and yeah. Happymaking.

ASDFGHJKL;'adfakjghl YES.

I've been sort of sub-consciously wanting epic multi-chaptered crossover fic for these two series ever since I was introduced to Yami no Matsuei and began noting all the similarities and differences, and going hey, WAIT A MINUTE, WTF?! XDDD. The characterization - the details - and the fact that it's you writing it?

8DDD

I SO can't wait to see where you take this.

*bluuush*

You're so not the only one who reacted that way -- I remember sitting next to Mith when she was reading volume one and her going "SERIOUSLY?" when Muraki mentions the "sensual encounter under the sakura" and yeah. I am giving my inner detail whore such a workout with this fic, too; I love playing the two worlds off each other and speculating about how the living and the dead work and don't work together, and I get to do even more of it next chapter, and and and. I'm so glad there are other people who want to see where I take this! It is exciting!
