I'm still confused as to the finer points of what a prompt tree is (although I get that it's the collaborative creation of prompts through threaded comments), how it works (are these threads of prompting limited? Can you pause at any point on the 'tree' and disregard later and more specific refinements to the prompt? Does it not tend toward prompt-threads at all, but more toward individual postings of prompts a la the Hetalia kink meme?), and how one responds to a prompt once it's been constructed (does one reply to the thread? Does this tend to make responsive fics shorter?). Could you please show me an example?
Additionally, by 'times' do you mean dates, or days, or hours of the day? Should've read more carefully; you already answered that.
A more full explanation of the prompt tree, with examples, is here, and I'll be providing plenty of examples of my own when I get this thing up. In a nutshell, someone leaves a top-level comment with the name of a character they'd like people to write about. The header to the comment would look like this: America (Axis Powers Hetalia)
People interested in the character reply to that comment with a comment, either with the name of a character they'd like to see paired with the first character

Going to be in Boston this weekend, but since you plan to have this thing run for a while I suppose it's not so much of an issue as it might be for other people. Consider me down for whenever, then.
Coming in Friday to chill with my sister and mother for a Very Special Parent's Weekend. I suspect my evenings will be full of family times, but we only have a couple of major things planned and I've yet to decide exactly when I'm going back on Sunday so YES. HANGING-OUTS.
I like prompt trees a lot for this! It lets people pick and choose their level of specificity, and I think it'll let a broader range of fandoms get represented, too -- I've got a feeling there's still going to be a lot of Hetalia, but I don't want non-Hetalia writers and artists to feel shut out from Saying Yes!, which I was a little worried about with a strictly-request format.
And it gives a nice breadth to the writer as well! I sometimes have problems with traditional request-memes because the specific request doesn't always match with the inspiration that I get then I feel like I won't be fulfilling it properly so I just don't write. But trees means you can write that specific request if it strikes you or something else if it doesn't and I find that really fantastic.
*nod* I'm the same way -- and I know a lot of people love prompts (I do, sometimes), but I've heard a lot of people discuss fic and art ideas they already have in place that they'd love to get a chance to write for this challenge, and I think prompt trees can allow for both of those things to work. *dances!*
I haven't run a challenge quite along these lines before, but I think the prompt-tree format's the best one to accommodate lots of fandoms and lots of different styles of prompting and filling.
I kind of love ticky-boxes. So fun! I don't even know why, they just are.

Clearly there must be some hours set aside for hanging-outs.

Prompt trees seem like such an excellent sexy idea for this kind of thing. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT IS THOUGHT UP.

Also, I find ticking tick-boxes . . . strangely addictive. I never thought about that until now. XD

They are! The mysterious allure of pushing a button? Similar to clicking a box? Filling in the unknown? I don't even know XD.
