A visit to the vets

We had an appointment at the vets this morning.  Murphy has had two appointments for his boosters this year, they were both cancelled as he did disapearing acts, so when he sauntered in last night I locked both cat flaps to keep him in all night.  He got out of both locked catflaps.  The catflap into the porch has a plastic cover that you slide ( Read more... )

My old cat Strider, was a kidney cat. He was put on valium, appetite stimulant, and steroids, for the same thing. He did drink extra water, lots of it and was put on a diet of the Hills k/d. That seemed to help and he lived for 2 years after going on the treatment. He also had to have fluid SQ every so often. It depends on how much money and time you want to spend on Candy, if she seems happy and is using her box and eating by all means have the treatments. If she is just not enjoying life and stops responding to you or eating/drinking you may have to have her put to sleep. It's up to you basically, if she's had a good long life, and she's in pain, etc put her out of her misery. She deserves to die with dignity. Good luck, I know exactly how it feels and goes with old cats. It hurts like hell.
On another note, Murphy sounds like an escape artist. If you really need to put him in block your cat flaps with something solid.
Loved your bun pictures!

I'm hoping the vet will be able to help Candy, and will be keeping y'all in mind. Candy's such a nice cat -- shoot, all your cats are great cats. You give them a really good home and take great care of them, they're lucky to have you.

Oh no! I'm so sorry!

As I said before, you give your cats a great home and they're very lucky to have you. They're great cats, and you did a great job in raising them.

It was an honor to get to meet Blackie, Candy, and Murphy. I hope to see Murphy again, and I hope the vet is successful in helping Candy so I can see her again.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Kitty drank a ton of water. He lived 5 more years on medicine and big bowls of water. He did just fine.

I hope Candy can be coddled along. Do you have a heating pad for her?

Murphy is my kind of cat. He is smarter than the average cat.

Candy doesn't seem to like a heating pad, I gave it away in the end to our friends that just got a puppy.

Muphy is a Monster, we adore him!
