the photographs turned out, one might say, philosophical
How old is this church of St. Aldhelm?

The chapel is twelfth century. Here is a picture of the interior taken back in 2014 (though it does not show how very dark and damp the chapel is inside):

12th century, venerable age. I tried to imagine what the parishioners of this church looked like in the 12th century

These photos are all lovely, but the intermittent light on the top one makes it surreal in a liminal way.

Thanks!
That was the one moment on the walk when the light appeared! Otherwise rather a grim grey morning.

I never get invited to snail parties!
Wonderful photos!
I love the sun-dappled cliffs in the first one. Also the last one with the Holly and Spruce [?] vase in the chapel.
Thanks for taking us along on another walk.
PS. I got a dog! I will post photos in LJ soon!

Thanks!
I wasn't tempted to gatecrash the snail party. It looked like a bit of a crush. :-)
Can't wait for the photos! Hope all is going well.

The first photo is priceless!
Have always thought snails are lone wolves, so to say.

Thanks! The cloud broke just for a minute, and the sun lit the cliffs and headlands; and it was lovely. Just for a minute. Then it was grey again.
No, I didn't know snails congregated like that either. I suppose they are usually hidden away somewhere in the dark.
