This is one of those Dorset names whose origin is a complete mystery...

It's such a beautiful stretch of coast. But boy does it get busy during the tourist season.

Thanks for another lovely tour of the rugged and beautiful coast!

I was curious about the land features so I googled a map of the area. In the ninth photo there is what looks like an island or land mass across the water. Is that the Isle of Portland? or are we actually seeing part of the French coast? Can you even see the French coast from the Dover area?

You're welcome!

Yes, that's the Isle of Portland looming on the horizon. We can also see the Isle Of Wight from here on a clear day. But France is too far away to see.

I've read that it's possible to see France from Dover, but I've never visited the east coast of England.

What peaceful photos!

In order not to fall, shoes are important. Football players have spikes on their sneakers, spikes help a lot on a slippery surface - I feel like a cat that has released its claws)

I felt like I needed spiked shoes - or football boots - yesterday. Such slippery paths!

I think the clay would just suck them off! From experience, I know it's very good at removing wellington boots.

I love all the pics, but that coastline, oh, that's my favorite.
