do users access control panel segments the way LJ designed it or through their own links (I have mine in my sidebar for example, instead of using the LJ start page)

Hah, me too!

And I agree, this doesn't bother me. In fact, I wish this information would be accessible to users (for their own ljs) so that, for example, we would be able to find out what %age of our foflist clicks our cut tags, or if anyone actually is downloading the music I put on YSI.

Maybe yes, maybe not. As I don't trust LJ any more, I prefer to opt out.

Opting out, too. LJ is becoming scarier and scarier.

Thanks for the heads up. It may be nothing at all and completely harmless, but LJ's ways recently have put me in the 'Trust No One' mode.

Thanks for the heads up. Why should they even care about this info? It's not like it's going to help them in any way.

You're welcome! I don't know, but I'd bet that it's something that they are doing to earn more money! Maybe they want to know the best places to put ads.

Well, that's a really interesting response, and I can see why random voluntary polling might not yield the best results. But I guess I just worried that LJ is going to use this information in a slightly dodgy way.
