Running Just to Catch Myself

I love this song title...the whole song really. I about died laughing when I heard it for the first time. (For the lyrics see behind the cut). This song gives a dead-on description of the way I live my life. I think that most people can relate to them. Or at least see a piece of themselves in them. And the music is played at a frantic pace that ( Read more... )

What do you do when I find yourself getting too wrapped up in the daily grind? sabrarosa March 8 2007, 20:49:15 UTC
I usually put in my coffee machine and make coffee!

But seriously, when that does happen, it usually helps to stop and have a present moment. As in, really be in the moment and find something small to take pleasure in and really submerse yourself in the experience. It's kind of like meditation.

Coffee machine/daily grind...was that an intentional pun? LOL

Taking time to appreciate small moments can make a difference. And stopping just to breath. Taking a few deep breaths can usually help me relax and refocus. I wish I knew of a way (besides dying) to make life's crazy pace go away altogether.

Heh. Well dying isn't a good idea. However, one thing I know I do is I've stopped saying yes to new commitments that I don't absolutely fell overjoyed about. Life is too short for me to waste it doing things just because other people want me to do them.

No worries...dying isn't high on my priority list either. I don't have time for it. LOL

Good for you for learning to say no. When you're a giving person that can be a hard lesson to learn. Life IS too short to waste it on things you don't feel passionate about.

Well...there are a few exceptions. I don't feel passionate about grocery shopping but my family doesn't eat if I don't do it. LOL

[1] Go for a walk - outside anyplace. No matter the weather. I usually try to find a way to walk by the Spokane River but even just up the hill from my office where they're building just stupidly expensive houses that have a view of the freeway and will get 100mph wind all day and all night.

[2] Breathe, Just Breathe.

[3] Call me. If I can, I'll tell you a funny story, gross you out, make you mad, tell you what a wonderful lady you are, stuff that might snap you out of it.

Never! Call me anytime. If I'm busy leave me a fun voicemail and I'll call back. I love hearing from you.

What if I don't leave a fun voicemail? What if it's grumpy or whiny or boring? Would you call me back anyway?
