you never fail to make me smile :). so, considering the three languages printed on the ipod wrappings, i assume apple thinks that english-, french-, and german-speaking people are particularly prone to stealing music? well....guilty as charged, i'd say in my case.
unfortunately, i can't help you sort out your ipod business, but i'm sure others will.
I am all about theft, man. But who is it really taking away from to download free songs that don't actually exist on any CD? Things that can't be bought are clearly exempt. :> *guilt-free* :-"
If not, breaking it a few times ought to end up with me learning things. :))
I got a lot of the American Idol stuff from the weekly performances that aren't on any CDs, and . . . drat you, making me look through my files :)) Killers stuff not released on CD yet, and goddammit this stupid download >:o it told me to remove all discs from drive THEN it blips and claims that it didn't install properly as soon as I eject the disc! WTF. >:o *smiteful*
Took me forever to learn how to use my iPod. The wheel-thingy is evil :| To turn it off you have to push the play/pause button for AGES. Why it just doesn't have a little off-button is beyond me.
I think I have already killed it. :| The installer prompted me to remove all discs from the drive, then says there was a fatal error the second I hit eject! PUNK INSTALLER, I WILL BEAT YOU >:o
The one on the bottom, right? >.> Triangle and || things?
Okay, seriously - if you want me to talk you through your iPod usage feel free to ping me. I've got it down after having Lucy since Christmas. I'm slumusicgirl on Y!M. :)
However, no - you can't use any other headphones but those created by Apple specifically for iPods. There is another type of them available, though (littletort got a set of them with hers), so maybe just poke around Apple's website?
Um ... you've got so many other questions up there it would probably be easier to just talk you through everything. So yes - go ahead and ping if you want. I know you're supposed to play with Tara tonight, and I'll be pretty much AFK tomorrow, but we can set a time or something if you want. >:D< Trust me - it's really not as difficult as you think it is. ♥
And I just saw ashkitty's comment above - mayhap you can use regular headphones with the bigger iPods? I'm fairly certain they don't work on the Minis.
I'll answer this part first because it's short :-" my normal headphones DO work! Not that I have any real songs on here yet to listen to besides the freaking Chipmunks movie song, but hey. :">
Maybe once I smack this thing around a little more we should chat! I don't feel like I know enough to compile enough specific questions to waste your time just yet. :"> :)) *lame* But soon! Maybe sometime this week? But if the minis are different than the bigger ones, maybe that would be confusing. Hopefully the only difference is the headphone thing. :D
We are plotting something now to uh, deal with Draco's new official birthday fiasco. :)) :P
Good to know that someone else has been having trouble with the iPod. I just got mine today, and I think I broke it already. It won't turn on, turn off, or reset. Wah.
Someone on my flist pointed me towards these little thingies for the earbuds. Hope they help!
We are iPod sisters, getting them on the same day! :)) Mine is plugged in doing nothing, but is threatening me not to disconnect it, so I suppose I won't. *paranoid*
I don't like anything that goes in my ears, so those wouldn't be much different! But it appears that my normal headphones work, so all is good. B-)
Good, don't disconnect it! I did, and I think that's part of my problem. (I went through the "Safely Disconnect Hardware" thing first, but the screen was still telling me not to disconnect it.)
Have you tried reading the instruction book from start to finish? I know that directions are for sissies ;) but I've been going through mine trying to figure out what's going on with my 'pod and it really does have a lot of answers in there.
It is blinking the NO! signal at me, though! I hope it decides to let me kill it by bedtime! :-ss
These directions are for sissies, man. I haven't read anything so vague since the last time I bought a VCR. 8-X The instructions it gave for transferring CDs into iTunes, like, didn't work. In the "at all" sense. :|!

On iTunes, what do you click to make it scoot songs onto the iPod? It appears to be ignoring me no matter what I do. :-?
