Room 125, Monday Night

Aug 15, 2006 15:08

Callisto sat in front of her computer looking up pregnancy information sites.

Then realling about all the complications that could arise, even when vampires weren't involved.

And reaaaally wishing she could actually have a drink right now.

Parker was on her way back from Caritas, and couldn't help wondering how Callisto was doing. It'd been a while since she'd seen her; and hey, maybe Logan's misfortunes would give her a laugh.

She knocked on the door, and softly asked, "Cal? You still up?"

"No, some place called Notre Dame," Callisto said. "Godddaughter?"

"Typical Irish. Probably wants the kid to play football there." Parker cocked her head. "No goddaughters, godmothers, godfathers, in Greece? And I'm jumping the gun anyway. Rory would be a better person for the job in a lot of ways."

"I would have thought hockey, myself," Callisto said. "No, we have them, I'm just surprised you'd volunteer."

"Evidently?" Parker rolled her eyes. "Although the idea of me renouncing Satan and all his works for Angel's kid holds an amount of irony that usually calls down lightening strikes. But, well. Yeah. Whatever you need."

"Don't tell him that, he'll probably hit you up for a college fund."

Parker snickered. "I can at least point him to a broker. But I think the kid's a lock for a sports scholarship, so...." She shrugged. "Waaaay the hell down the line, though. As the nominally Wicked Godmother, maybe I can just get the kid a Get-Out-Of-Curse free card, somewhere. Or pay for the orthodonture if she has two sets of teeth."

Callisto gave Parker a Look. "And maybe you can help Uncle Houseboy babysit."

Parker's eyes widened in horror. "Or not! Ever! At all!" She shook her head, then made a little cross with her fingers at Cal, then blinked at her stomach. "Hmm. Any reaction?"

"But if I left the two of them alone Logan would probably use the kid as poker stakes." Callisto looked down and shook her head. "Nope."

"That's encouraging." Parker snorted. "I'll guard the kid from becoming Little Miss Marker, as long as someone else is around to keep it from messing up my shoes. Or stealing them, if she inherits your tendencies."

"It's Angel's kid, he's more likely to critique tham than steal them."

"True. Maybe I can take him-her-it to Paris. We can thwart its destiny by making it a fashion critic instead of a Champion." She yawned a little, then reached over and flipped away from the Website of Ugh. "Don't look at that any more, okay? Pregnant or not, prophecy or not, a real doctor can tell you a zillion things more. I know vitamins and milk and exercise enter into it, and not stressing out over the worst case."

She studied Cal a minute. "Aside from the rage and the terror and the responsibility-- do you want this? Seriously? I know Greek tragedies always start with someone sending the kid away, but so do a lot of good fairy tales."

"It's my kid," Callisto said. "Not that I ever wanted one, and I'm not dumb enough to think it'll suddenly make Angel love me, but as frakked up families go this... mightn't suck."

Parker looked thoughtful, then nodded. "There've been worse answers. If you need help with any of it--" Parker's half thinking Thank God it's not me and half Oh, crap, miracle baby but in between, there's a tiny element of cooooooool. "You know where I am." She grinned a little. "Weird. But, uh. Congratulations, I guess."

"Thanks," Callisto said, then started shooing Parker out of the room. "Goodnight Parker."
