Room 125, Monday Night

Aug 15, 2006 15:08

Callisto sat in front of her computer looking up pregnancy information sites.

Then realling about all the complications that could arise, even when vampires weren't involved.

And reaaaally wishing she could actually have a drink right now.

Parker was on her way back from Caritas, and couldn't help wondering how Callisto was doing. It'd been a while since she'd seen her; and hey, maybe Logan's misfortunes would give her a laugh.

She knocked on the door, and softly asked, "Cal? You still up?"

"Aaaahhhh no! No! Don't wanna know that! At all!" Parker put her hands over her ears, shaking her head back and forth like a bobble doll, then got a grip. "I meant, how did a 250-year-old pointy-haired sterile undead doofus father anything more viable than mold?"

"Hey! That's my kid you're talking about," Callisto yelped. "I don't know, he was going on about some sort of prophecy."

Parker facepalmed, and started laughing. "Oh, of course. Duh. It would be." She took a deep breath, and looked up at Cal from the floor. "Sorry. Just kind of boggling here. Mostly at the Angel factor." She rubbed her eyes. "You still didn't say if you're okay?"

"I don't know," Callisto replied.

Getting to her feet, Parker studied Cal's face, and said, "Simple stuff first. Do you feel sick, or mostly okay?"

"Apart from the periodic bouts of overwhelming terror coupled with the desire to castrate the vampire? Fine, I guess."

"Yay. That part's normal. At least the castration part. And given the circumstances, I'm right there with you on the terror." Parker took a breath, feeling her way through this. "Have you seen a doctor, or taken a pregnancy test?"

"And you have to be at least three months along now, if you are actually pregnant...." Parker looked thoughtful. "Way past time to do that. At least the answers will be a definite yes or no at this point, not a maybe." She pushed a hand through her hair. "Can I help? I mean... I don't know. Is there anything you want, right now? That I can do?"

"What do you think of Alexander? For a name, I mean."

Blinking, Parker said, "I like it? And Alexandra's even better." She looked boggled. "You're definitely going to keep it-- her, him-- them-- then? Seriously?"

Callisto shrugged. "The methods I know for getting rid of a child don't work past the second month."

"There are others available." Parker took a breath. "They're not risk-free. And, well. Prophecy. If some stupid Power or god wants the kid born, it may not work anyway." She made a face. "You don't have to keep it, though. God knows Angel wants a kid badly enough to already have it named." She blinked, then grinned. "Wait. Alexander...?"

"Would you really trust Angel to raise your kid by himself?" Callisto asked. "He's already got the college picked out, why shouldn't I get to choose the name?"

"It's not Harvard, is it? 'Cause you've got the brains, but any kid of Angel's is seriously going to have to work for those A's." She grinned. "No, you should get to name my goddaughter." Parker blinked. "Okay, hang on, boggling at what just came out of my mouth."
