In this picture you can also see our VHS of Crazy Japanese TV, a pirated copy of JFK Brian bought in Hong Kong that is dubbed in GERMAN with CHINESE SUBTITLES, and a Brastel long-distance calling card (phone option of choice to foreigners in Japan!), next to the offending yogurt.
It's exactly like Yop, actually. And I had decided after childhood that Yop was gross. But how quickly the pendulum swings! Post-yogurt discovery, I had a show-off with a glass of the stuff. It was hard at first but I managed to get the whole thing down. And now, I kinda like it.

The 3.5% stuff!? You, lady, are a strong one.
And, yes, I think so. Do you have any hotel recommendations in Hiroshima? Brian and I will be heading down for Saturday to Monday and then I'll meet up with you and John Tuesday to Friday - is that when you guys are going? Plus I'll bring the breast pudding that I haven't mailed you yet (gomen, ne!).

iiiyo! i haven't mailed you the gloves either, we can do a glove-to-breast swap. perfect.
um, driving out tuesday is the plan....heading back sat/whenever. hai.
i'm on the other side of hiroshima than kyushu tho, so we'll meet there???? and pick you two up? u are trainin' it, ne? we can pick you up if we coordinated keitais....once u arrive in aso...
we should communicate more in some other medium soon. hmmm.
and hiroshima, no tips unfortunately- usually stay with a friend there- anywhere near the peace park is good tho, as that's right downtown....
The Japanese obsession with yogurt is pretty phenomenal. That, and aloe (as an edible product). I always found the milk in Japan to have a totally overwhelming quality to it; never having found a decent enough descriptor, I settled for "corny." As in, corn-like. I don't think they either homogenize or pasteurize that shit. That, or they feed their cows full of corn. It's the Kobe Beef way, right?
Yes - after the initial soury burst, I noticed that too :) Brian hasn't really mastered katakana yet! Maybe the yogurt obsession comes from the tofu obsession: they're both white, mild and textured? Man, I could eat Japanese tofu for every meal. DEAR GOD YUM.
Can't say I've tried the aloe yet. What form is it in?
And, okay, the hair wax is amazing. Thank you Japan for giving me the hair I've always dreamed of.
I think it has more to do with the health benefits, active cultures etc.
I've seen the aloe in drink form, in pouches of aloe gel with chunks of the plant in there. Or something. I haven't inspected aloe edibles too closely b/c the thought of it makes me want to barf a lot.
Hair is serious business in Japan. Best haircuts and products in the world (for Asian hair) are over there, no question. Ugh I miss it.
