I'm not sure, but I think you MIGHT be looking for Vacation by drovar.

Synopsis:

Vick forces Lassiter to take a vacation, and makes him pick a cruise, any cruise. When he arrives at the ship, he finds Shawn's there, and has convinced the cruise line that he and Lassiter are a honeymooning couple in order to scam a room upgrade and freebies. Pretty much as soon as the cruise starts, the ship's resident tarot card slash palm reading psychic is killed, and as Lassiter and Shawn investigate, they find it might be the work of a serial killer with a problem with psychics.

There's no hand cutting off-ness, but there is a part where Lassi's tied up with wire, and in order to get his hand free, he manages to mangle his wrist pretty badly with the wire, so that might be that part.

And even if this isn't the fic you're looking for, you should read it anyway - it is WONDERFULLY written, and brilliantly Lassiter (it's from his POV).

That isn't the story I'm looking for, but thanks so much for the response! I've actually read Vacation a few times and I absolutely love it! The plot is very intriguing and I agree: Lassy is very well-written. I always welcome recommendations for long Shawn/Lassie stories! Whump is always good, too :-P.

I think that's the one you're looking for: It's Your Party, You Can Die If You Want To by Oni-Baka. It's an unfinished WIP, though. Wasn't updated for a while. A shame. :/
