I've done tech support for friends and family long enough to know that...you shouldn't be his tech support. Let him figure it out or call someone else to fix it. Otherwise, he's going to be trying to get you to fix every problem he has. I figure that you've got better things to do with your time.

That was what used to drive me nuts. He's a functional human being capable of doing exactly what I would do, which is Google the answer. But he insisted that I was somehow "better" at that than he was.

Yes, I'm probably a little more computer literate than most people. But I learned what I know by either looking it up, or trial and error. (Hmm, that plug doesn't seem to fit there. Ooops, fire!)

That used to especially be the First Law of Macintosh - rebooting fixed about 95% of your problems!

Tech support. I could Never NEVER do it. Just helping my 95 year old mother log on and play solitaire takes ALL OF MY PATIENCE (that is also why I am in awe of teachers -- such patience).
