Answer about "Planes" bartender2347 June 15 2011, 12:07:10 UTC
You asked if the aircraft carrier was sentient. As one of the planes is launching, you can see the bridge, and while it's "eyes" seem to be closed, it is wearing a naval officer's cap.

Also, on the topic of commercial airliners, Lightning & Mater seem to be riding one across the ocean in one of the Cars 2 trailers.

I didn't get a good look and was wondering if that was a cargo plane. Good catch!

I just wonder, do they do an homage to the flying the tower scene from Top Gun?

On the subject of sentient weapons, just think of the Planet Buster Bomb #20 from "Dark Star". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjGRySVyTDk

I would LOVE an homage to that, but I bet that's not in the cards; they'd have to kind of admit that they blow other "beings" up, I suppose.

And what would a conversation with an ICBM be like?

Ack! I wrote the script in Word, so of course it wouldn't have the squiggly line underneath it.

Odd that it didn't give me one of the green "this sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense" lines, though.

There was an excellent student-made short movie "Lobo: Paramilitary Christmas Special" made a few years back. Though it's nothing official.

Oh, right; I'd completely blanked on that one!

It looks as though GL will have to pull a Transformers (bad reviews, lots of ticket sales) to get a sequel, though. And if it doesn't, that bodes ill for any "cosmic" type films, unless DC wants to do a direct-to-DVD one.

"Son, we consulted the consciousness of Walt Disney from the Cray IV we keep under the castle at Disneyland. He flagged the song you picked."
"Zombies are cool. Marketing shows they're through the roof."
"Ah. Very good, then. Think a Mickey Mouse zombie movie would sell?"
"I'd go see it."
