I can't really see Dick's "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" being faithfully adapted as anything other than a short film, given that the main character never leaves the memory company's office, unless they do extensive flashback sequences of the memories they implant/uncover instead of just discussing them.

I must admit I never watched the series they based off of it. I know it was "Blade Runner"-looking, at least from the commercials.
But yeah, I couldn't see it extending Dick's ideas much without it becoming a movie about willfully using Recall's machines to change the world every so often.

Makes me think of Asimov's 'I, Robot,' which was actually a collection of short stories, most with recurring characters. If the movie had been more faithful it probably would have been a snoozefest. As the movie goes, it actually is pretty good. The original Total Recall movie is good camp fun itself.
Sometimes books and stories just aren't meant to be translated ad verbatim to the screen.
Actually, one of my friends from high school is in Piranhaconda, and she's been posting behind-the-scenes pics to her Facebook account for a couple of months. So, no, not an April Fool's prank.
