Much shuddering later, I still can't believe they thought "great things come in bears" was a good tagline for that movie. Admittedly, the target audience is young enough not to see anything amiss, but for anyone over the age of 6 this just keeps getting creepier.

Yeah.. that tagline.. with that particular image..

THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

Seriously... I think someone int heir marketing department is visiting the ER after their SIDES SPLITTING FROM LAUGHING TOO HARD. THe worst part is? I don't think there's any way that 4channers could make that WORSE.

I'm not sure there's any way, either, but I also wouldn't want to go issue that challenge to them. I'm worried they would succeed.

If I watch this, it will be to look for the Pedobear cameo.

Glad I didn't see that poster first at the theater. I would have been escorted out for laughing so hard.

I think you might have messed up the link on the meep summary; it leads to the shirt page.

Funky Winkerbean is incredibly depressing. I remember in the late 1980s, it was a funny high school strip, lots of good gags, lighthearted. (I was in marching band during part of that time, so I appreciate the band-oriented strips.)

Now, twenty-some years later (ouch), the local newspaper has Funky Winkerbean. It is the most depressing strip in the world. Not only do I not know who is who (there's no scorecard and nobody seems to use names in that strip any more), but it's all about death and failure. Cripes on toast, I could read the front page if I wanted that.

I'm not saying comic strips can't be serious, but FW is unrelenting in its downer deliverance.

'I was also informed that the C'thuliana Corner section of our island o' exhibitor stuff now carries Lovecraftian thongs.'...now *there's* a mental image to cost some SAN points, unless you meant the kind of thongs that other parts of the US refer to as 'flip-flops'...

As far as Meeps go...I wonder if Wheaton came up with his version before or after the GURPS IOU writers used the term for a critter that's more or less a tribble with legs...that gets used as a game-ball for certain sports?

I liked that comic when it was int eh paper as I was growing up and was disappointed when our paper dropped it. I haven't read it in YEARS. While it's nice to know the creator had the characters age, I'm not sure I like the depressing tone.
