"YATTA!"
Footsteps stampeding down the hall towards your desk alerts you to JunSu's presence. You minimize the window with the webcam stripper and turn around to greet the excited looking boy as he slams his hand on your desk and proclaims proudly, "I did it!"
"Shh..." You're in a library and the very reason you two were sitting so far from each other in the first place was to avoid situations like this. JunSu never was very good at keeping his excitement contained, a quality that would be considered endearing in Korea, but is only annoying in Japan. Which is precisely why you followed him when he wanted to transfer schools -- to keep him out of trouble. "What is it?"
"I've broken the space/time continuum!" he exclaims in what can only be described as a stage whisper. "I forced my clock back one full second with only my thoughts!"
You've heard this before, and sometimes you wonder if too many sci-fi films really do have long-term damaging effects. Or maybe JunSu was dropped on his head as a baby. "Good for you," you reply shortly, opening your book so you can get back to studying.
"I'm serious!" JunSu exclaims, a whiny edge to his voice. His eyes grow wide and then wander up towards the ceiling as he murmurs in awe, "This explains the subway this morning..."
Setting your pencil down, you arch an eyebrow and raise your eyes towards his face. "It was fourteen seconds late. Big deal."
"The subway's never late!" he shouts indignantly, eyes shooting back to meet yours. Smugly, he adds, "I have discovered powers beyond any mere mortal."
This really is starting to sound like something out of a sci-fi movie. Or Star Trek. "Like Spock?" you ask, sarcasm dripping from your voice.
But it doesn't matter if you're mean, because JunSu is sometimes too innocent to catch it. "Yes! Exactly like Spock!"
You're about to respond, maybe with another witty remark, but a security guard interrupts you both by grabbing JunSu's collar and literally dragging him off.
With a sigh, you wonder if it's even worth the effort to go after him. This is the fourth time you've been kicked out of the library this week and you'll never get any studying done at this rate.
