I know I said I'd have that Kekkaishi post up soon. This is not it. This is a ramble on One Piece instead.

So. Mostly within the past week, I devoured the One Piece manga. I finished catching up on...Friday, I think? And had a lot to say about it, but I thought I'd give it a few days before making an entry to allow myself to calm down and be more ( Read more... )

one piece, rambling

And YES. It really was exactly like that, it seemed so SUDDEN how I just became addicted to it and had to keep reading.

I WILL READ ALL YOUR ONE PIECE FIC!

Same! I can't tell you exactly when it happened but I just was all of a sudden. Then I dropped to my knees and recognized Oda's awesome.

I'll get my things. Meet me under the R at Toys'R'Us and we'll start our adventure.

Haha, I'd have to write some first! But...I think I just might. >.>

I was laying in bed reading it, so I couldn't drop to my knees. I. Um. Dropped even further onto my back?

IT'S A DATE!!!

Yay for OP love~~! Yah, I can see where some people might not get hooked-hooked 'til at least Arlong Park, or possibly Alabasta or Skypeia. But yessss to the fact that I want to LIVE IT. It's one of the few canons I would in all seriousness love to be part of.

AND OMG LOVE FOR THE USOPP LOVE. He's my fave character in OP and I adore him. Definitely one of those "fictional boyfriend" material types XD

I enjoyed some mini-arcs before then (like most of the Kuro arc), but Arlong Park is where the story really started to feel like a story, I think. Skypeia is where I got hooked to the point of not being able to stop reading, though. It was the flashback that really got me. Haha, I cried.

YES, USOPP. Omg, he's amazing. I LOVE HIM SOOOO.

...I have to read this, don't I. Nnaagh. I've tried like three times to get past the beginning and just couldn't, but if there is goodness beyond I should really try. Harder. -__-

Yesss. I won't lie, the beginning is kind of a slog. But. Once it starts to really start to all come together, it gets so good. Unf. I kind of want to go back and reread certain arcs already. hsfkjahdkfljs

Kind of like Reborn, then, without the sexy bish. I could live with that. ^___^

I haven't read Reborn myself, though I have heard it takes until volume 8 or so for the actual story to kick in? So...perhaps. XD

dgoijdflf me too. *___*

I actually am going to start watching the anime now (or, really, I've already started), because I loved the manga so much and I want more and seeing it in another medium is as close to that as I can get right now. Also I'm just really excited to see all the characters animated and hear the seiyuu and such. I've watched the first twelve episodes so far, actually. I'm not finding it a drag, really, because for now it's exciting to know what is going to happen, but to see it played out in animation...and picking out the little differences and changes they made...it's keeping me occupied. Of course, some times I think about the really EPIC stuff that comes later and I want to see it NOW, but the anticipation is part of the fun, I guess.

I love how you can just feel the series getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

Yes. This. I really started to feel this back in Alabasta when Robin reading the ruins and Crocodile was talking about the Pluton. I mean, I totally expected to get more on that later, but it was just ( ... )

The anime is SO good. They just did such a good job with...well, EVERYTHING. The seiyuus are perfect, the fighting is smooth, the timing is good - like, there's really not TOO much stretching done within the arcs. And even most of the filler is pretty decent! It's a really fun time all around! I think with the dragging, it's more like...if I want someone else to watch the series, it's like you said, I remember all this EPIC stuff that happens later and I'm like KASLJDHA THEY'LL LOVE IT IF THEY JUST GET TO THAT - and then I remember they have to get through the beginning and collect all the crew members first and stuff. Because I've seen more than a few people drop it pretty early in, and then pick it up later and love it. Possibly I just need to have more faith in people, though. *I* enjoyed the beginning, WHY WOULDN'T THEY ( ... )

I have the opposite opinion as Maxine! Even though I found the beginning very good, I can see why people would think it drags the first time around. However, I think that I enjoyed those episodes after a second watch. But maybe I'm just obsessed. alskdjglaksdjg

I think Usopp's arc is probably the one that I find the slowest. His intro arc, anyway. I like Buggy's arc and Zoro's. Sanji always SEEMS longer than it is but I love it. And Arlong is just great to me. alskdjglasgd

But I loved reading your opinions! Your favorite characters make me SO happy. Usopp IS fantastic and OMG Sogeking.

After having read through those beginning arcs now, watching them is kind of fun, because I know what is coming and because of the novelty of seeing everything animated. Haha, I think I'm kind of the opposite of you; the Buggy arc I am not a fan of, and...I like Zoro and his introduction but the villain for that part I found pretty meh, while the Kuro arc and Usopp's introduction I mostly liked a lot. Sanji's introduction is pretty awesome, though, as is the Arlong arc and it just keeps getting better from there, so wheeee~!

Sogeking was something I kind of sort of vaguely knew about, from you and other people making reference to him, but I had no real context, so seeing how it all fit into the story was pretty awesome. :D
