I like to cook pork that way and after it's shredded, mix it with bbq sauce.

Do you put the beef on a rack or just let it sit in the juice? I just got my first crock pot as a third anniversary gift from work and haven't used it yet.

The meat sits in the juice. It marinates in the seasonings/spices as it cooks, and ends up very juicy and tender.
