*PM comes on screen back in her normal rags and looking more than a bit put off. She's sitting on a pile of cut branches and vines with a black sword plunged into the ground in front of her and her hood and face mask down, in front of an overgrown building. The building looks old and run down, but is intact, with a faded sign reading "Post Office" ( Read more... )

Geez, with all this jungle shit going on I really didn't need a freaking lecture about why to use the mail.

Can't we just use these things to send messages back and forth?

Mail is the sacred backbone of any true civilization and should not be stayed by something so minor as a change in scenery.

And I already gave my reasons for why they cannot truly replace mail.

You can have a group of people without having a real civilization.

[Castiel is intrigued, but also very confused by the point of this.]

Why would you prefer a slower and more cumbersome method?

A letter is much more personal than images on a screen, and it's much easier to save a physical message if you want to read it again than it is to find an old video recording. Besides, my offer extends to packages as well, and I do not believe these devices can transport physical objects.

[He's not meaning to sound so insensitive or condescending, as he really is just trying to understand, but... It's what he does.]

Letters are very slow, and communication back and forth is stilted due to length of time between responses.

[They're slow, did he mention that? Slow. He's fixated on that part.]

They are also easily intercepted, or lost, and any confidential information would be available to whomever laid their hands on them.

[He does nod at the comment about packages, as that makes more sense since he knows not everyone can fly, but still.]

Over distances that would be of assistance, however we are in a limited location.

*She was already standing up straighter than normal, but now it's pretty much impossible for her to stand any taller.* A truly dedicated mail carrier would never allow their precious charge to leave their sight until it was safely in the hands of its recipient, and wouldn't even dream of betraying the sacred bond of trust between them and those they serve.

And I have seen several people already terrified by the current situation. It would be unacceptable if a valuable parcel were delayed because the person who intended to send it was not comfortable leaving their home.

[... stare.]
