Dmitry Chestnykh is the creator of the "I Write Like" website. He's a Russian software developer. In an interview with him, he said something that I found so amazing, because it's EXACTLY the way I approach craft projects (and a lot of other projects, too) This is what he said:

"I'm the kind of person who is not qualified in a subject before jumping into it. This is my way of learning: when I want to do something, I do it, learning along the way."

So, with that in mind, here are my goals:

1. Crochet my little heart out and FINISH all the granny squares for my sister's afghan. If I can finish the squares in August, I'll hopefully have time to put them all together in September in order to mail it to her for her b-day October 1st.

Here's the lj I've devoted to this project: afghan4sis.

I've never made an afghan before. Just like I'd never made a quilt before creating one for my mom's 50th birthday a few years ago. I'm pretty excited about it and have figured out most of the steps. It's just a matter of cranking those bad boys out ( ... )

I love this idea. I've been wanting to learn how to crochet or knit for a very long time. I just haven't really taken the initiative. I have a friend who can crochet, and I think I'm going to start asking her for lessons starting very soon! In fact, I'll see what she's up to this weekend. Thanks for this inspiring idea.

i signed up for a knitting class so i can hopefully make 'functional' pieces instead of clumps of knots. but that's not until september.

i might go over to archivers this weekend as they are doing a freebie how-to for cards again. i really enjoy making cards. i think i'll make a goal to learn two new designs for cards cuz i'm sure i'll use them quite a bit with the holiday season coming up.
