Huh, really? It seemed pretty obvious to me. Those pamphlets made a big deal over the past being false, but it doesn't really matter if it is or it isn't. Nobody's going to believe some random pieces of paper that've been left scattered around. Even if they did, the past that defines them is the past they remember the most clearly.

But in the end, it doesn't matter if the memories are true or false. Because what matters the most is the situation we're in. The past will always be there, even if we don't remember it, but the present is far more important.

It's like all of those people that go crazy over fortune tellers who'll tell them about their past lives. It doesn't really make all that much sense to be so excited over it, because the only life that matters all that much is the one you're living right now.

[There's relief in his voice.]
