Thank you so much for this! I love the interaction between the two and can easily imagine that Jack would have little use for the code of Harry :D

It literally jumped fully formed into my head after Mark and I watched the ep when Rudy, Deb, Rita, and Dexter go away for the weekend to clean out Joe's house in Dade City.

(Mark called the Ice Truck killer's true identity the MINUTE he showed up on screen. Don't know how he does it. But we're enjoying the HELL out of this series!)

thanks! I'm glad you liked it! it was just something that popped into my head. if they DID meet, what would they say? how alike and unlike are they? it seemed like fun to do once but i don't think i'd do a long fic about it. too weird.

If you go by the Code of Harry, then yes, I think Dexter would feel an obligation to take Jack out. But if you look at how he responded to the Ice Truck Killer, I think he'd have grudging admiration for Jack and probably a bit of curiosity about how he manages to do what he does without getting caught AND with all the messy human emotions to boot.

Jack's downfall was not so much his emotion but the fact that he tried to form an unwilling victim (Samantha) in his own image. Dexter understands implicitly that the life of a serial killer is necessarily a solitary one. No one can understand how the mind of a psychopath works, even those who study them. Jack just let his fixation on Sam push him over the edge. It made him reckless. Dexter ... well, we'll see how it goes with him in upcoming seasons.
