*delurks* Hello again! ^__^

So... Um... Any fellow Londoners here? :D Doesn't matter either way, but when replaying the second game I always smile when I see the map showing Layton's study on the top DS screen. I know where that is...! It would potentially come in handy for fanfiction purposes, except... I'm not writing much at the moment ( Read more... )

I was just in London yesterday! I was there for 2 weeks, I'm currently visiting Cheltenham (I'm visiting the UK for a year, I'm originally from Canada!) I had no idea that the map is actually in London. Whereabouts? In Central? XD

I'm going to download your musics and listen to them now! Yay!

Oh, cool! How was it in London? It's smelly, noisy and crowded here, but I really wouldn't want to live anywhere else. :D

Google Maps Time!

On the mini in-game map I can make out St James's Park and Regent's Park (and of course the River Thames). Guessing, but I think Layton's study is near Russell Square, which is conveniently near the British Museum. XD So, yeah, very central. It's also near King's Cross/St. Pancras stations, for... train-travelling purposes, I guess.

But I love the mini-map! It's not very often that you get a Japanese video game with characters that are from/based in London. :P

Lol, the River Thames is a bit of a giveaway.

Explanations. YES. HURRAH. Just have to wait for the other games to come out...

Welcome to the best PL community out there! :D I also didn't know that the minimap was based off of London. I guess that's just a nifty new thing.

Thank you, it's great to be here! I'm liking this community very much, everyone seems friendly and lively. :) I'm going to try my best to be more of a poster rather than a lurker. ^__^

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed them. ^_^ My set-up is very modest at the moment. I'd like to get better sounds/samples and a better keyboard etc. So I'll probably redo the tracks at some point in the future. But, the flip side: there's a lesson in making do with what you do have, so I'm glad they came out sounding at least halfway decent, even though I haven't done much audio processing on them. It's a good way to practice and develop my ear training, but I also need an outlet for my obsession about this series while waiting for the next game to come out. XD

I've been to London a couple of times, but I had no idea that the London in the game could map to the real London. That is some crazy dedication to setting and research!

Sidebar: In that same vein, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor and The World Ends With You are both based off real locations in Tokyo, right down to the storefronts and traffic signs.

Mini-map says that Schrader lives near the Houses of Parliament in this alternate (1920s with robot dogs?) London, so the cut scene showing Big Ben is spot-on too. I'm not as familiar with that area, but it's nice that they actually bothered to do the research, because they could just as easily made a random map up and used that.

I've heard of the World Ends With You, but never played it... Might be good to try it out at some point, if only to see what all the fuss is about.
