Hey dudes (dudettes?), I started to write a big long post but then I realised everyone would probably be all TL;DR so here's the condensed version (and yes, this is a lot shorter than the original) :

I've been working on transcribing some of the music from PL for... a couple of months now. Today I think I might have actually brought a few pieces to ( Read more... )

I'm no help, but I'm really glad someone's transcribing the music :D Even though I'm a looser and can only barely play guitar.

Heh, I can barely even barely play the guitar. e_e; My tender little artiste fingers can't take it. Guitar hero, on the other hand...

but seriously, I was actually originally writing the second violin part from "Down the Tubes" for acoustic guitar until I realised that I had the potential for a real string-quartet. *_* Maybe another time.

What sounds different? I hope it's mostly just due to the instrument change ._.; Accordian is pretty hard to translate. I'm glad you like how it sounds, though, I'm pretty proud of it myself... Now I just need to work on learning to play it right--my hands are a tad small to comfortably play some of the left-hand shenanagins.

Mooching off of Katy's comment because I found the same problem.
I... The chords you chose for the starter in Layton's Theme is... well. It's very off. I'm not sure what's wrong; it sounds off in comparison to the right hand's piece, but it might just be something you can't fix. You made me want to go to my piano and try these out C:
I just might in half an hour actually :D I haven't played in a year and I miss it very much.

I'm really grateful someone took the time to do this <3 it's very thoughtful and I might print this out and save it in a folder for rainy days. Thanks!
SORRY KATY WEORIJWEOIRJ *leeched off this and ended up writing a comment completely*

PS: I just noticed how offensive my comment sounds; I'm not a very good musician and I'm not trying to be critical of your work, I just want to know if it's fixable and I think it'd make this entire piece about ten times more amazing (which shouldn't really be possible since it already is). SORRY.

?? I don't find your comment offensive at all...

Anyway, I went back and listened to it very carefully some more--I hear/see what you're saying, and after thinking about it a bit I believe that the correct pattern may be:

D G D C Ab D G D Bb D C D Ab D G
C C C C C C CReplaced the Eb/D with D/C. Does that sounds better to you? It's very difficult for me to pick out what notes are being played when there's more than one at the same time, but I think this may be it. It makes sense that if I messed something up, though, it would be the very first thing I do, right? :3 Ehehe... Although poo, this pattern is harder to play than the other one. v_v;

Holy fudge, you're awesome.

Unfortunately I'm not very good with music myself (how I wish!), but you are super freaking awesome for this. Aaaaaaaa piano I miss thee ♥

Mmm, might I ask if it would be all right to add these to the Professor Layton fansite? :) You'll get proper credit, of course. (I really need to update when I can breathe again from all this school... X_X)

Sure, sure. :3 And it's no trouble to wait--that would probably work out, since by the time you get to updating I may have worked out a few more kinks. Did you get my reply on my previous post, by the way?

Omfg, this is so cool. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at playing music, but I'll ask around. Good luck, and amazing job!
