I really like the tricks. But, you know, when they're used like HOLY FUCKING SHIT TENTH DOCTOR IS BLEEDING ON THE FLOOR AND HERE COME THE MOTHERFUCKING TIME LORDS SHIIIIII--------

That's how I felt during the End of Time, anyway. I also held a pillow really, really hard. But even that wasn't timey-wimey. I haven't seen any of the new episodes of season 6 (no cable) but I've been reading what I can and I have to confess I'm disappointed its been using time in the fashion it has... I was hoping for more meat, y'know?

I hope it keeps going up. I miss Rusty's face. And writing.

This felt sort of like a stock entry sci-fi Clone Episode to me, but I guess it's been a while since Doctor Who did a Clone Ethics episode, so why not. I loved Rory though -- as usual he continues to be the only one of Team TARDIS 2010-2011 who feels like someone who might have existed on the show previously. I liked seeing him stand up for Jenny and wander off on his own without the Doctor or Amy, rather than trailing after Amy. Rory is usually very reluctant in all of their adventures, and seeing him click with one of the locals, defend her against everyone else, empathize with her, wander off after her, etc was delightful. I don't think s6 has gotten off on quite the right foot yet but I do think Rory as a full-time companion is genius/proper/as it should be. I feel like he's on more of the standard companion arc I'm used to seeing, even if it's delayed a bit because he hasn't been travelling as long as Amy, and it's such a relief to see it happen. GO RORY GO. BOND WITH THE LOCALS. WANDER OFF. DISAGREE WITH THE DOCTOR ( ... )

I agree with you so much about all of this, it's surprising even to me!

Like, really, I just watched it just now and that sums up my entire reaction.

And seriously, if Eleven had more tawdry quirks than a tawdry quirk factory before, he's got enough for Planet of The Tawdry Quirks now. Dial. It. Back. Everyone.

If next week delivers, then this could be the Eleven era answer to Impossible Planet/Satan Pit.
My thoughts exactly.

I liked the content of the episode a lot, but little things really bugged me, like the fact that THE SHOW IS NEVER COLORFUL ANYMORE. Yeah, yeah, the dark lighting and everything works, but it would be so much more effective in this episode if it hadn't been in, you know, ALL OF THE OTHERS TOO.

And then there was that line where the Doctor said something like, "It's about to get more insanerer...is that a word?" and I was like :| :| :|

THE DOCTOR IS VERY SMART, AND HE HAS A VERY GOOD GRASP OF BASIC GRAMMAR. I KNOW YOU WERE TRYING TO BE FUNNY, DEAR WRITER, BUT EVEN IF HE THOUGHT "INSANERER" WAS A WORD, HE WOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO USE IT AFTER "MORE."

But really, when those are my complaints, things are good.

Yep. He's Mr Conditional Clause after all :-)

I'm sure I've read somewhere that some of the episodes were shifted around this series because originally, there were too many "dark-looking" ones in the first half. Yeah? So where are the "light-looking" ones, then?
