Hi Faolan with patchdandshabby and Faolan

Sep 08, 2010 08:09

Severus had spent much of the night making supplement potions for Faolan, and checking in on Remus and the boy. They'd both been awake at one point, but when he checked again, they were both sound asleep. Around three in the morning, he'd finally fallen into bed, exhausted ( Read more... )

Though Remus had slept it had been a light sleep, one ear always listening for any noise Faolan might make. He'd felt Snape's absence, and heard him coming into the room so late, which was part of the reason he spoke so softly to the baby once he was awake.

"You didn't get much sleep, love," he commented without turning around, once he heard Snape stirring.

"I've had less," Snape rasped, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Some of the potions relied on perfect timing. How's our little cub this morning?" He sat up, shifting closer to Remus and Faolan.

"I think we'll be able to put his potions in his juice, preferably apple, to mask the taste somewhat," he added softly.

"He's had a cup of milk. I was hoping to get something solid into him today. You'd like some oatmeal, wouldn't you Faolan? when I was a boy I had brown sugar eggs in mine; when you pour milk on them they sprout into bitty dinosaurs. Doesn't that sound like fun?" He leaned back a little, touching the back of his head to Snape's shoulder.

"He still hasn't said anything."

That he wasn't talking was concerning. Wordlessly, Snape cast a spell that made a thumping noise behind Faolan. The boy's head whipped around, before turning back toward them.

"Well, his hearing is obviously fine," Snape said, reaching out to stroke the boy's dark hair. If he'd ever had a son, he'd imagined his hair being the same color.

"Do you want to try some oatmeal? Can you nod your head yes or no?"

Faolan nodded his head, then leaned against Remus' chest.

My head it trying to figure out how to make it work lol professor_snark September 11 2010, 05:14:24 UTC
"Yes, I believe so. He insists that Ryan is his brother, despite all evidence to the contrary. Ryan loves him and trusts him, and I think would even go so far as protect him, despite all he's been through. Perhaps the child isn't completely worthless. I'll talk to his father tomorrow."

Snape laid his hand over Remus', then raised it to his lips, kissing it.

"This sleeping arrange better not go on for too long. I've gotten rather used to having your body near mine."

"It might not be a bad idea for Ryan and Faolan to meet as well. it could do Ryan some good, to see someone smaller and weaker then he is. Someone who could look up to him, who's been through some of the same things."

The very tips of Remus' ears turned pick. Between his 'illness' and recovery, and Faolan, it had been weeks since he and Sev had done more then sleep together in the literal sense of the word. "I would miss you as well. As soon as he's comfortable we'll put him in a room of his own."

"Since we are here, I think I will close my eyes for a few minutes. It's been a long week." He reached over, caressing Remus' face, then slid down lower on the bed, getting comfortable.

"When he wakes up, we'll clean him up and then let him have toys. Everything will be fine," he murmured, already drifting.

"Sleep, love." He wasn't delusional enough to think that things would magically be fine, but he did think that they could help the boy. And each other.

He stayed awake while his family napped, watching over them.
