5th Year Slytherins/Gryffindors

Having given instructions on the day's assignment (vanishing earthworms), McGonagall set about monitoring the progress of the room. Making sure each of the students had plenty of the wriggling creatures to work with, it was only a matter of time before she had to correct the pronunciation of an unfortunately scatter-brained student.

"Er...thanks...Professor," Neville said, obviously embarrassed. He looked at the worm for a moment until Professor McGonagall had left.

He turned to Brady and gave a small smirk, shrugging as he did so.

Dean poked the worm he had just placed on his desk with the tip of his wand. The worm curled up in fear.

"Don't worry. I'm just going to vanish you," Dean explained to small brown ball on his desk.

He mumbled the spell and flick his wand twice in what seemed to be the correct way. He stared at the worm, waiting for it to disappear.

"You're suppose to vanish," he told the worm with a sigh.

"You tell that worm, Dean," Harry whispered, grinning at the other boy from the corner of his eyes.

He hadn't attempted his own yet, too amused by how the other Gryffindor boys were faring to add his own failure to the list.

"It does look a bit paler now," Dean defended himself. He picked up the worm and examined it. "It is definitely paler." He nodded with conviction.

"What about yours, mate?," Dean said pointing to Harry wriggling worm. "Look it's all nervous. I'm sure vanishing a calm worm is a lot easier than vanishing a stressed out one."

"Maybe mine just knows how good I am," he suggested, shrugging once before grinning slightly.

"Here goes, huh?"

Turning back to the worm, he mimicked McGonagall's wand motion and spoke the incantation.

When he was finished, his smug grin faded a bit into one of mild disgust. Only it's outer layer seemed to have been affected, basically revealing the inside contents for all to see.

Parvati didn't want anything to do with worms - even vanishing them - and she shook her head.

"That is just so disgusting! Yuck!"

Blaise looked at the worm, utterly revolted. He didn't even want to taint his wand with poking at it, so he picked up his quill and pushed at it in disgusted fascination for a second before lifting his gaze pleadingly to Theo's.

"Teddy... ew..."

Theo tried valiantly to cover his amused smirk, but the look only became stronger with Blaise's pleading eyes.

"Something wrong, baby?" he asked quietly, looking with innocent concern at his boyfriend.

"I can't... touch that," he exclaimed, waving a hand in a general flailing manner at the worm who was trying to wriggle away -

Well, so it seemed to him and he didn't want to touch it. "Teddy..." he wailed quietly, too softly to be overheard by anyone but his boyfriend.

Supressing a soft laugh, he leaned in as if to give Blaise a private piece of advice.

"Well, love, the point of this little exercise is to make it so that you don't have to see it anymore." Smirking a little, he used his wand to scoot the worm a little closer. "Wouldn't you like that?"
