hey everyone, i'm sure there's lots of fun to be had with the most recent wank about victoria bitter/thanfiction/etc, but if anyone tries to justify using pronouns like "she", "he/she", "it", etc when talking about him, then i'm sure you wouldn't mind if i took you off of my friends-list ( Read more... )

Wow. Blast from the past time, i haven't heard of VB since that epic LotR scam he pulled!
Pronoun fail, however, is epically fail-y, and i *really* wish English had a non-offensive gender-neutral pronoun.

Also - Prof, i haven't talked to you in about a zillion years. How are ya these days?

i'd never heard of him before yesterday and i was like, O____O!!!! reading up on the past exploits. meanwhile, english does have non-offensive gender-neutral pronouns, people just insist that they are unable to use them because they are "fake" or "made-up" words, because they have no idea how language works. then they go onto say things like "lol" and "wait a sec, i have to tweet this."

edit: i am doing pretty well! i'm in milwaukee, got a new boyfriend, two cool roommates, two awesome kitties. er, back to looking for a job again, but that's probably the case for about half the people i know, so. how about you?

Unfortunately, introducing new pronouns into a language is not the same as introducing new nouns and verbs. It's not impossible either.

But, uh, a slashed up "shit" sure isn't the answer.... wow.

not the same thing, obviously, but also not impossible, and also doesn't make the words fake, which is what i always hear as an excuse against gender-neutral pronouns.

and... yeah. what the actual fuck, on that one.

Exactly this. For fuck's sake, he may be the worst person in the world, but that's no excuse to be a complete transphobic asshole.

Assholish behavior is completely separate from gender identity, and using one as ammunition against the other is just unacceptable.

ffs people, this isn't rocket science.
