I cannot help but wonder what that message truly meant. Is it an empty threat, born from fear and cowardice, or do they truly intend to bring harm to those aboard the Amestris? There lies a very real possibility we will fall victim to another series of sabotage, but I do not believe a full-out attack will be launched. Such an action would be too ( Read more... )

Why do you say that? [ He sounds vaguely amused, but also weary.]

You're a lot more level-headed then my father, my mother, and the majority of the people I've met there when I visited them, as a kid.

[A pause]

Not that they weren't interesting and good people...it's just...yeah.

Thank you. It is... not a surprise that I do not see eye-to-eye with many citizens of Erealia. I was raised to approach politics with a clear head, as anger can only cloud judgement, and therefore impair important decisions.

I believe these are actions born of pent-up frustrations. Unfortunately, Solare has lingered in destitution for quite some time, and it is unsurprising that they see our aide mission here as a slap in the face after so long a neglect.

Seen from their point of view, it is a ship filled with luxuries and the well-off, come to offer handouts, not out of concern, but to improve their own public image.

It is a shame that they chose to ignore the many people on board who have nothing to do with Ivona and her problems, in favor of making a statement. I don't believe they posses the resources for a full-scale attack, but much of the damage may already have been done. We can do nothing now but be cautious, and investigate as best we can in order to prevent further calamity.

Yes, I agree. I can imagine that, to the impoverished people of Solare, our arrival was seen as anything but an aide. While it is... disheartening, it is also understandable from their point of view.

Might there be anything I can do to help with the investigation, Lt. Commander?

Given your status, safety should be your greatest concern. However, it would aide us all greatly if you could keep an eye out and report anything that seems out of the ordinary. It looks as if they've had access to the ship already, and we need to track down any tampering that may have been done.

They... [ He pauses, taking a moment to think over his reply. ] Someone is not happy with us, Bu-ling. But you needn't worry. We will do our best to catch those responsible.

Have you someone to take care of you?

I will do as I am ordered of course, but so far protecting those who might be valuable kidnapping targets has been a priority.
